Review
This is an utterly glorious celebration of a wholesome and grounded way of life. Step inside this book and be totally transported to another way of living.
As well as a wide range of recipes, there are inspiring stories from twenty individual artisans and producers who play a role in bringing food to our tables, from basket-weavers and apron-makers to blacksmiths and woodworkers, potters and glassblowers, to fishermen and cheese-makers, farmers and chocolatiers to distillers and salters.
With atmospheric and evocative photography, and fascinating personal narratives, Kate and her collaborators, Pooch Horsburgh and photographer Andrew Montgomery have beautifully captured the lives of twenty different artisan makers and producers.
Woven between the life stories are the most delicious and mouth-watering recipes. Simple to make with locally sourced ingredients, these are meals that capture the homemade philosophy of this book.
What we loved is the spirit and honesty captured in the artisans’ accounts, Kate’s dedication at the front of the book states,
‘For the Brave of Heart & Free of Spirit’
and that statement encapsulates the whole ethos of this book. Life is not easy when you decide to pursue a long-held ambition or passion, but reading about the lives of those featured in this book will inspire you to want to try!
Nourishing, inspiring, uplifting, an absolutely perfect way of escaping to a better way of living! Highly Recommended!
